The 31th International Festival of Oasis will be held in Tozeur, from 26 to 29 December 2009 on the theme:''The rhythm of the Oasis and the South.'' The festival is open to all governorates of the south, through the participation of folk groups and the orgnization a major exhibition dedicated to local handicrafts. The shows opening and closing ceremonies will be held this year in a new space constructed in the middle of the old Oasis. As usual, the festival will highlight the cultural and civilizational features of the  Djerid region, including the heritage of Tozeur, Nafta, and Deguèche Tamerza.

This session will host folk troupes from Algeria and Italy, alongside the troops of the governorates of Gafsa, Gabes, Medenine Tataouine, Sfax, Kébili and Kasserine. They present a popular music with African roots.

Other activities include the organization in Tozeur of  session dedicated to  crafts in collaboration with ONTT and the participation of artisans from all over the country, the bustle of the medina of Tozeur, the popular games and selling products from the Oasis will also mark this event.

This festival is one of adjuvants Saharan tourism and one of the oldest in the South. It is perfectly timed, usually with the season of harvest of dates and the highlights of Saharan tourism. Seminars will be in collaboration with the University of Gafsa and the participation of specialists in the field heritage and architecture and urbanism.
